I work pretty hard and to go through life not rewarding myself, what would be the point? I'm sure you've heard the line "all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy"; well I take that line literally. Not to mention, it's been proven that taking the time to reward yourself is crucial to your well being and makes you a happier person in the long run.
There are so many reasons to treat yourself, one of the most important is because it automatically makes you feel revitalized and will perk up your mood; I don't know about you but when I spend a day in the spa, when I return to work after the weekend is over I feel like an entirely new person, relaxed, less stressed and all around happy, although for most of you who truly know me I am usually always happy. Another reason is because when you're good to yourself it usually makes you want to be good to others, regularly treating yourself means that you'll be a better friend, significant other or co-worker, so think of "me" time not only as a gift to yourself but as a gift to others. It can also serve as motivation, if you set up a reward for yourself each treat will be well deserved. Lastly, treating yourself, mind, body and soul will avoid burning yourself out.
Today I treated myself to a well deserved manicure and pedicure. That one hour of getting my nails done and getting a massage completely made my day. Next time you're feeling down or a little under pressure, treat yourself to something big or small, learn to ease up on yourself and focus on how much you deserve the reward, because the truth is, treating yourself will make you a better person in the long run. Here's an idea, start by doing what I'm about to do and go have yourself a slice of cake! ;)
